The Basics About The Definition Of Spirituality

By Grace Daniels

Spirituality has many broader concepts such as prayer, having a relationship with God or the power on high, relationship with other people and nature, meditation among others. People and scholars, philosophers, preachers and men who are deep in their various faiths have their own definition of spirituality. The term simply refers to the quality or condition of having some sought of an attachment or high reverence or regard for thing of the spirit and downing the worldly interests.

When it comes to the religious point of view, this concept has often been perceived as having to do with feelings and beliefs that are deep and religious which is also very much inclusive of a sense of purpose of a person on this earth. The belief of a person in regards to peace, his connection to others, and also trying to decipher and probe the meaning of life itself.

Matters of the spirit have to do with an ultimate nature of man, not in terms of the biological thought or organisms but as human beings that happen to have a very unique relationship or fellowship if you will, with the high power or the divine ultimate. This relationship is seen to supersede time and existence of the material.

It has been obvious that the things of the spirit have mostly been contrasted with the things of the material or worldly. There is some sense of connection that is perceived and a central traits or properties of things of the spiritual, which deals with an attachment and an association with the metaphysical reality that is absolutely bigger than oneself. It may include some sought of religious experience with some emotion attached to it.

According to Richard Dawkins, he specifically asserted in his book called Unweaving The Rainbow that human beings have an intrinsic appetite for things that are glorious and too wonderful. He asserts people have this insatiable appetite for trying to invoke the most positive expressions that are embedded deep in questions about existence. It has been noted by philosophers and spiritual teachers that cognitive context, has a huge play in invoking these states.

These activities that help someone to directly access the spiritual response are such as singing, dancing, clapping, meditation, chant, and also rituals whereby the people participate and in ceremonies. These spiritual activities enable people to move from their head directly to their hearts. It is also obvious that it is only in the heart that one tends to find the most dominant inherent rewards of spirituality, can completely relate to the cognitive context.

There are those people who believe that they are very spiritual because they tend to hold, perceive or wish that the life one is living to be the ultimate or is the most significant thing that can ever happen to a human being. They view life as more integrated and more complex. They view life as more in sync with their world view.

This sought of realization or revelation is usually accompanied with these emotional effects. Remember that the generation of these spiritual responses is interpreted only according to our beliefs, for instance taken to perceive the ultimate and absolute truth about our situation as we perceive it. The definition of spirituality is still broad and profound.
