Long Island SEO: What Does Content Is King Mean?

By Arthur Williams

To say that "content is king" is a repeated statement would be an understatement, but the reason for this is that it holds truth. Without content, users aren't engaged and it becomes significantly more difficult for websites to perform. As far as the aforementioned statement is concerned, one must wonder where it started. Long Island SEO experts most likely know this, but those that are new to this field should look back to 1996 to start.

During this year, in January, Bill Gates wrote an essay that was published on Microsoft's website. The title of the essay in question? "Content is King." Anyway, in this essay, Gates claimed that he saw content being the driving force of the world, much in the same way that television and broadcasting were in years past. He wasn't wrong, though, as the Internet has become a hub for the world's information. This isn't where the essay concluded, though.

In the same essay, Gates said that the Internet gives anyone the opportunity to publish content, provided they have a computer and the ability to connect to the Internet itself. Of course, the ways that this can be done have multiplied over the years. According to firms such as fishbat, everything from social media to simple blog sites that can be created in minutes can be used. The platforms that we can use for content publishing are seemingly endless.

For proof of how "content is king" has developed, all you have to do look at the fields that utilize it. This is true for not only Long Island SEO, but web design, graphic design, and marketing in general. Not only is it vital for the content in question to rank well, which is where SEO comes into play, but it must be crafted with a sense of care. Content is everywhere these days, but only when it's made well will it be able to perform at or even above expectations.

Bill Gates is often seen as a visionary in the tech field, and his "Content is King" essay is one of the shining examples of this. He understood that content would eventually become the moneymaker in the business world, and that it made sense for companies to prepare for this in the years to come. Gates' words were true, as more and more businesses have become active on the Internet. It's safe to say that this won't fade anytime soon, either.
