Why We Need Digital Printing That Is Eco Friendly

By Anita Ortega

Since inception, printing has become part of our daily activities. The paperwork which characterized traditional industries has now been replaced by file storage systems such as CDs, DVDs, flash discs and hard discs, just to mention a few. The challenge though has been the disposal of wastes. Most of these appliances are made of non biodegradable materials which expose the environment to untold pollution. It is now high time that digital printing that is eco friendly needs to be embraced.

The satisfying fact is that immense change has taken place in comparison to some past years. There is no longer need to worry about energy consumption or space for wastes. The modern products last longer as well. It is only a matter of time and digital printing will be a hundred percent safe. For now, work needs to be done to arrive at the desired results.

Packaging by use of plastics and other non biodegradable products should be discouraged. They normally form a heap which cannot decompose when thrown and managing becomes hectic. Instead, other materials like paper which are disposable are better for this purpose. Still, their durability needs to be improved to prevent people from reverting to plastics.

Imaging is normally done by the use of an oil film. This film combines with electronic ink to form the image. Good ink is which can be disposed off in a normal way, and of which poses no danger to the environment. Those known for being common in the market should be handled in a special way before being disposed. Moreover, the oil should be reusable to avoid wastes.

Some mobile substances often are released into the environment when printing progresses. They have electrostatic energy and thus prolonged exposure to them is not advisable. The manufacturers need to ensure their products are at par with environmental regulations. Before being released, there is need to detoxify particles. Researchers can dig deeper into more safety options which are available.

The ozone layer also needs to be taken care of. Chemicals known for being harmful to it must not be allowed. Nevertheless, there are some circumstances when ozone exposure is mandatory. In such situations, it should not go past the limit which is eight hours. Extra wastes like used ink cartridges need precaution handling.

The ink used has to be eco friendly as well. Some of the printed materials are used to package foods and drugs. If the ink has some poisonous contents, it can cause great damage to the users. Recent innovation to come up with waterless ink is a welcome move. Such an ink will greatly cut down on the cost of printing which traditionally consumed tones of water. This kind of ink makes printing to be enjoyable and more convenient.

As the human race continues making use of the options that technology provides, the ultimate goal is to be in a world that is intoxication free. This is a massive exodus to a world where convenience and environmental preservation are highly valued. Pollution will soon be a thing of the past if all goes well. No one will complain if the printing industry embraces eco friendly techniques.
