Tips On How To Write A Novel

By Andrew Richardson

Writing a book is not that easy. It is true that everyone can write, but not everyone is a writer. It takes time, passion, commitment, and effort to become a good writer. Thus, if you have all the qualities to become one, then you can start making your own stories out from your imaginations. No matter what genre you like to write about, be sure to make a commitment for it.

If writing is your passion, why not turn that into a lucrative passion. This is actually a good idea since a lot of writers today are selling thousands of copies of their books. If you plan to make it possible, then make sure that you written the best story for your readers. In order to do that, here are some tips on how to write a novel.

It would be best to carry your notebook and pen so you would be able to jot down all your ideas wherever you go. You should get inspired by anything you hear of see while commuting, while walking down the road, or even if you are strolling around. Actually, being a writer requires you to get inspired at all times. In fact, there are writers that find it difficult to come up with an idea and the only way to produce good ideas is getting an inspiration.

You also need to consider the genres you like most. Basically, not all stories fit a certain category but consider the audience and the genre you are planning to outline. Aside from that, read major stories that fall into your chosen genre as you start planning the draft. Try to understand your genre.

Once you have made up your mind and chosen a genre, start planning the setting of the novel. Never focus on a specific setting while trying to start dreaming higher. Actually, the setting of the story will determine the mode and tone which could affect the problems of the characters. Consider some questions in making a draft.

A novel is incomplete without characters, thus, you have to create your characters. The protagonist plays an important role in your novel who should possess all the personality traits and patterns. Actually, protagonists do not have to be likable, but they should be able to be related to something else in a way that readers will stay interested.

Planning the plot is the next thing to consider. Actually, there are many novels have some sort of disputes and conflicts. Problems build until problems come to a climax and resolved in many ways. Writing a novel does not have to be like fairy tales with a happy ending. This is like providing motivations for the characters whilst adding a meaning.

To create a great outline, it is better to read different books specifically ones relevant to the genre you write. This is important during and after you have made the book. Always remember that characters with similar and different traits must be compared with each other.

When writing a book, writers need to be insensitive when it comes to feedback. If readers give you comments or feedback to change something, then consider it, but never change the story automatically. Be sure it is something you want to change for the betterment of your book. Also, keep in mind that because a person dislike it does not mean everyone else will.
